Can Your Ace Do This?
Analytics, schmanalytics. It’s cool to talk about how guys hit at home or on the road, versus left-handed and right-handed pitchers, but as far as I’m concerned, these are the only splits worth talking about…

Jean-Claude Van Damme, son, Jake Arrieta’s got some flexibility. And then he goes the extra mile, calmly hawking Cubs tickets with the kind of flawless delivery his Belgian buddy could only muster after having been laid low by an unscrupulous Kumite combatant. If this short clip is any indication, the reigning Cy Young will have no problem getting work once his baseball career has ended. I hear he’s already been offered a role in Pilates of the Caribbean (h/t Jeff the Giant).
I admire the heck out of Arrieta’s ability to push his body, but seeing that move makes my nether regions tingle, and not in a good way. But hey, if that’s what helps him to maintain the form he’s shown on the mound over the past couple seasons, I’m all for it.
