Dylan Cease is doing it again, this time in the Midwest League (low-A). The Cubs’ best pitching prospect is following up his 13.30 K/9 in short-season A ball with a spectacular 13.50 K/9 with South Bend this year.
Although the hard-throwing 21-year-old is striking out half the guys he faces on a per inning basis, he is still walking over 5 batters per game, an area in which the Cubs would certainly like to see improvement.
Take a closer look at the prized pitcher’s bullpen session from a few days ago. The minimalist delivery is reminiscent of Jake Arrieta, at least to me.
