Albert Almora has been a go-to guy when the Cubs face a lefty. The young centerfielder owns an impressive .406 wOBA against southpaws this year, and much of that damage has come in recent games.
Almora’s total wOBA in August is .360, his highest in any month this year. While the run production is undeniable, much of his success has come in the form of singles. A .103 ISO this month tells us that his power hasn’t been there, though Sahadev Sharma noted that Almora has steadily increased his line drive rate throughout the year.
With increased confidence and a better sense of plate discipline, Almora should be able to improve upon those power numbers down the stretch.
