Sahadev Sharma is one of the best reporters on the Cubs beat and his popularity has increased to the point that he only goes by his first name at times. Speaking of which, how do you pronounce his first name? He explained that, along with his path from pre-med to engineering to dropping it all for a chance to produce at ESPN 1000, where he earned the respect of Bruce Levine. From there, it was on to Baseball Prospectus and then as one of the writers who really got The Athletic off the ground.
Our conversation also covered the daily rigors of his job covering the Cubs, including which players are the best and worst interviews. This was our longest show to date, partially because I initially sent the wrong link and forced our guest to arrive a little late. We were also drinking, so that may have had a hand in it.
If you’ve got a few free minutes today, maybe consider spending a few of them here or on our YouTube channel checking out “The Rant.” I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by just how fun and insightful our conversations have been so far and I’m really looking forward to where the show goes from here.
