Cubs Announce New ‘Cub Together’ Holiday Marketing Campaign, Fan Sweepstakes, Wrigley Field Brick Paver Program
Apocryphal legend has it John Lennon was battling a terrible cold when first recording one of The Beatles’ most infamously strange songs. As a result, it sounded as though he was exhorting listeners to “Cub together.” Okay, so that might not be true of the ditty initially recorded as an anthem for Timothy Leary’s campaign against Ronald Reagan for California governor, an effort that ended when Leary was arrested for possession of marijuana.
The phrase itself is real, however, and is being used as the Cubs’ new marketing campaign. The team announced Monday that “Cub Together” is a celebration of what unites us even at a time when it is important we stay apart. As the press release explained, this campaign is inspired by the many ways fans continue to express their love for Cubs baseball as we eagerly await the moment we can “Cub Together” again in person at Wrigley Field.
They also announced the Gift of Giving Sweepstakes presented by Toyota, which provides fans the opportunity to win a variety of prizes to give or share with a loved one this holiday season. Starting Monday, December 7, at 10 a.m. CST, fans can visit the Gift of Giving page to select their “starting lineup” which is comprised of nine gifts or experiences ranging from a personalized Wrigley Field Marquee photo and brick paver set, an opportunity to play catch at Wrigley Field, batting practice passes with Wrigley Rooftop tickets, a weekend stay at Hotel Zachary in a junior suite, and more.
Fans have the opportunity to select up to nine different options from among various gifts and experiences, or they can select the same gift or experience as many as nine times in order to increase their chances of winning it. Winners will receive one gift for themselves and one to give to a loved one. The sweepstakes will run from Monday, December 7, at 10am CT through Monday, December 14, at 11:59pm CT, with winners contacted on or around Tuesday, December 15.
The final portion of Monday’s announcement is that the Cubs are bringing back the Wrigley Field Brick Paver Program for the holiday season. Starting Thursday, December 10, fans can purchase a personalized, engraved brick paver to commemorate their fandom and be a part of the legacy of Wrigley Field. Brick paver packages are available to purchase for $199 while supplies last and will include one installed brick, one replica brick delivered to the purchaser’s home, and a certificate of recognition.
Additional items, including an additional replica brick and display case, are also available for purchase. Purchased brick pavers will be installed prior to the 2022 regular season at Wrigley Field.
