Jordan Nwogu hasn’t exactly been tearing it up this season for South Bend, but he started to heat up earlier in the month and he caught fire Thursday night. The slugging former Michigan football player blasted three homers through the first five innings of the game, sandwiching a single in there and later adding a walk for good measure.
Though he’s “only” slashing .255/.356/.480 on the season, his line in August is a very healthy .288/.386/.650 with a few games left to play. Nwogu is crushing southpaws, so just a little better production against righties — like hitting three homers against them — will have him shooting through up the rankings and through the system.
